System Requirements

Microsoft Windows XP, 2000
Intel Pentium III 800MHz or compatible
128 MB RAM (recommended minimum)
512 MB RAM (recommended)


Installing

Mysql database management system and Sun java runtime environment (jre) are necessary to MDSS server. You must install Mysql before MDSS server installing. You can freely get Mysql from http://www.mysql.com

Wdsdb is the background database for MDSS server. By default, wdsdb will be installed automatically. However, wdsdb may be exist because MDSS server had been installed and uninstalled in your machine. Old wdsdb cannot be deleted by uninstalling. If you want to use old wdsdb, you should skip wdsdb installing otherwise old wdsdb will be covered by a new empty wdsdb.

By default, Sun jre will be installed automatically. Yet, if jre had already installed, you can skip jre installing.


Setting

After installing

  • When the program link Database correctly for the first time, "Waiting" frame will display for a long time when system initializing.


  • If the program can initialize correctly and start normally without any configuration, it means your MySql is not safe. It use the default administrator setting of MySql, which set administrator name as "root" and none password for root. It is good to configure you MySql according program help.


  • If the program reports mistake when starting, please check whether MySql is installed and start. If MySql service is all right, it means DBAddress setting is not right. Please reset DBAddress according program help.


  • If the program can't connect with database or can't provide service when MySql service is all right and DBAddress is assuredly correct, it maybe caused by incompatible of database file. Database file of MDSS v1.1 is build by MySql 4.0.17 . Your can try import MDSS database by hand.


    1. delete ..\mysql\data\wdsdb (..\mysql is MySql installing directory)


    2. copy wdsdb.sql from installing directory to ..\mysql\bin


    3. in DOS model, enter into ..\mysql\bin


    4. input "mysqladmin -u root -p create wdsdb", "root" is database administrator name, if it is not "root", you should input correctly.


    5. enter, then input the password of database administrator


    6. input "mysql -u root -p wdsdb < wdsdb.sql", "root" is database administrator name, if it is not "root", you should input correctly.


Distribution of MDSS Client Setup File

After installing and setting MDSS server program, administrator should customize and distribute client setup file. WDSsoft provides an empty wds.ini file as the configure file of client program. Administrator can customize it:

  • a. write MDSS server IP address in first line.


  • b. write ˇ®en' or ˇ®zh' in second line, ˇ®en' means English ˇ®zh' means Chinese,(no blank in each line)

Here is a example wds.ini file content:

    112.34.23.01
    zh

After customizing wds.ini, administrator should pack client setup files using WinZip of WinRar then distribute it. The pack contains three files:

    jre-1_4**-windows-i586-p.exe (java runtime environment)
    setup_client_en.exe (MDSS client setup file)
    wds.ini (client setting file)

Data Backup

It is very important to backup your data in server side, Without these data, all existing signatures and accounts will be invalid. So, administrator should frequently backup data according program help.


Uninstall

Mysql database management system, background database - wdsdb, java runtime environment cannot be uninstlled.
