Connecting Digikey database to Parts database
Use the following steps to LINK Parts Database V 2.02 for MSAccess 2000 to Digikey database:

Place the Digikey.mdb file in a folder at your choice. The sample Digikey.mdb downloaded with this package represents only a short version of the full file available at http://www.orcad.com/registration/starterdb.asp Digikey database contains the following separated tables: Capacitors, Connectors, Discretes, ICs, Inductors, Misc, Potentiometers, and Resistors. Use Attachments form toolbar to LINK the above tables to Parts database.

Click on the Link button to browse for Digikey database.
Digikey2.gif (12921 bytes)
Select Prototype from menu to create a prototype part for a certain project using Digikey database as source of parts.
Digikey3.gif (5514 bytes)
The Digikey source is located at the bottom of the form. Select a Digikey table from the combo-box. The application will automatically adjust the field’s name to match the configuration of the selected table.
Digikey4.gif (21970 bytes)
Select a prototype project (P000004 in this sample) and add a new prototype item to the list by selecting a Group of parts identifier. The application automatically assigns the next available ID in the list. Move the cursor in the Digikey section to that part you want to include in the prototype item list.
Digikey5.gif (20831 bytes)
Click on Add DigiKey button to create the item’s title. The application creates this title from a series of Digikey fields content, depending on the table’s structure. The Digikey part description is always included. Double-click on text boxes to zoom their content.
Digikey6.gif (20770 bytes)
Select an assembly level for this new prototype item.
Digikey7.gif (22200 bytes)
Select Part Request from the menu to create a definitive part number for the above prototype item.
Digikey8.gif (5566 bytes)
Click on the Assign PN button. This automatically generates the next available part number per type of parts. 102 in our sample identify the group and 001 is the first recorded item in this group. Select from the menu Parts Entry to open the Parts database. Use the combo at the top to filter the table for our group 102 OPTICAL ENCODER.
